Davao City — Ten new coaches completed a basic floorball coaching course in Davao last September 23 and 24, 2016. The coaching course was initiated by the Durian City Thorns Floorball club, in partnership with the Philippine Floorball Association. The participants were equipped to conduct floorball practice for children by having a good understanding and application of basic floorball skills as well as to implement floorball rules during gameplay.
On the second day of the course, the coaching participants applied what they have learned by teaching basic floorball skills to over 20 young local players. The Durian City Thorns club will continue its program among 17 years-and-under players with the aim to build a positive Floorball culture in Mindanao, the southern region of the country. The PFA looks forward to return to Davao and assist the Thorns in organizing their first local tournament. A refereeing development course may also be conducted alongside the floorball tournament.
